HRH Princess of Wales opens Hope Street

HRH Princes of Wales opens the building and Lady Edwina Grosvenor gave a speech

Today was a wonderful celebration of hard work and collaboration as HRH The Princess of Wales officially opened Hope Street.

Snug Architects have been working with One Small Thing since 2019 on the trauma informed design and construction of Hope Street, a pioneering residential community in Hampshire supporting women in the justice system and their children.

As part of the opening ceremony the Princess was given a tour of Hope Street by Lady Edwina Grosvenor, founder of One Small Thing. Speaking to users of the centre, Kate said ‘this is such an inspirational place’.

Messages of Hope were attached to the River Birch tree in the middle of the therapeutic garden. Kate’s message of hope read, ‘I see you and I am with you. Good luck in all that lies ahead. Catherine’.

Mike, Director at Snug Architects’ also attached a message to the tree which read, ‘My hope is that Hope Street will be a home and a blessing for all those who stay here’.

Hope Street is now open and welcoming women through its doors.

"This is such an inspirational place."

"The responses to the building carry on being overwhelmingly impressive and positive, often with people not quite believing it. What you have designed it truly wonderful."
