Christmas cheer at St Winfrid's

Over 300 people attended the inaugural carol concert at the recently completed refurbishment by Snug Architects of the stunning Grade II Listed St Winfrid’s Church in Totton, Southampton. This 1937 brick built building, of ‘byzantine character’, was designed by esteemed architect, Nugent Francis Cachemaille-Day and is on the 20thCentury Society register.

Until recently the church was struggling, with regular services being attended by only a handful of faithful members. As part of the Winchester Diocese church planting strategy new life has been breathed into this stunning building. Snug’s project director, Mike Worthington stated; “It is wonderful to see so many people celebrating the joy of Christmas in this stunning building after so many years of decline. It has been a huge privilege for Snug to play a part in the life of this incredible building and at the heart of our own community”
