A stunning one-off house in Winchester
The project involved the complete rejuvenation of the existing property. The result is a contemporary modernist house with strong impact. The house celebrates its sylvan site with habitable rooms facing the garden. A large white 'picture frame' wraps the first floor creating first floor balconies and solar shading, as well as a powerful unifying aesthetic device that gives the house a strong identity.
The exterior is a crisp white render with a colour, texture and inhabitation enclosed with a wrapping picture frame. At night the house is transformed into a picture of colour and light with the warmth of the interior spilling out.
The interior is colourful and contemporary with a mixture of vibrant high gloss colours and natural timber defining volumes and breaking up the prevailing white aesthetic.
