Clovers
A stunning contemporary new home in Milford-on-sea, Hampshire.
Clovers is a replacement four bedroom dwelling on a beautiful sloping site in the seaside New Forest town of Milford-on-Sea. The house sits at the centre of the plot and steps with the changing levels. This efficiently minimises the extent of expensive tanking required and serves to divide the site into four garden characters; a generous front driveway, a kitchen garden, a south facing terrace with lawn and a small woodland. The home connects seamlessly with these pocket landscapes.
The building has a restrained pallet of materials. A stepped timber box floats over a stepped ground floor and sits on two brick bookends that ground the building. The detailing is crisp and contemporary. Pre-weathered timber cladding is framed by dark grey aluminium flashings, reveals and windows that define the building's sculptural form.
The heart of the house is a dual aspect double-height and open-plan kitchen, dining and living space that addresses both the front and rear gardens, allowing the landscape to flow through the heart of the house.
