Modern Methods of Construction - Bartlett Arboretum
From Substructure to watertight Superstructure in three days.
At the Bartlett Arboretum, we’re continuing to push Modern Methods of Construction in the real world.
Using an off-site fabricated timber panel system, the entire superstructure was erected and made watertight in just a few days delivering a fully insulated, water tight shell ready for internal fit-out.
What that actually delivered was tangible:
-
A compressed programme
-
Earlier access for follow-on trades
-
Reduced weather risk
-
Factory-controlled quality, improving airtightness and thermal continuity
Design intent that genuinely aligns with as-built performance
Zero Cold Bridges
There are clear sustainability wins too. A timber-based system lowers embodied carbon, factory fabrication reduces waste, and less time on site means fewer vehicle movements and a lower site impact. Faster programmes also reduce prelims and improve cost certainty.
The system was provided by Eden Insulation Systems an MMC specialist delivering high-performance panels with a collaborative, no-nonsense approach. Great people to work with.
For us, this is MMC at its best: design-led, low-carbon, efficient, not just faster construction, but better buildings.
